Bon Jovi: Viagra For Women

This is a funny and really nice review of Saturday's show in Dallas -- thanks Liz!

I found it entertaining and just had to share. :)

Bon Jovi: 'Viagra for Women' and other tales from the AAC
Jay Betstill

I have seen Bon Jovi in concert too many times to recall. They always put on a really entertaining show and more often than not seem to include Wanted: Dead or Alive in the encore. No need for pyrotechnics or backup dancers, just Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora, David Bryan and their great drummer, Tico Torres. The show does have its high-tech flair (rotating screens and moving platforms), but the big draw is always the band its 48-year-old front man. The group -- now in its 27th year -- came to Dallas this past weekend as part of The Circle Tour. The Grammy Award-winning band's 11th studio album, The Circle, debuted at No. 1, and they're still popular enough to sell out back-to-back shows at American Airlines Center. My buddy Nate and I were fortunate enough to attend on Sunday evening's chapter of the two-night stand. The show was a great mix of old and new songs, with the beginning of the concert broadcast live on their website via UStream as well as the filming of their next video for When We Were Beautiful.

We had really good seats just to the edge of the stage, which gave us a fantastic view of the stage, as well as a primo people-watching spot. For starters, there was a huge guy down on the floor that could have easily been mistaken for Mickey Rourke in The Wrestler and another gentleman on the floor whose haircut resembled Jeff Daniels in Dumb & Dumber. Two girls seated in the inner circle had on their best '80s glitter dresses. Their seat neighbors were an older gentleman and his date, who both sported mullets. Nate and I both assumed they had all jumped in a Hot Tub Time Machine and came to DFW this weekend to catch Bret Michaels at Billy Bob's on Saturday and Bon Jovi on Sunday.

But, our people-watching highlight was this drop dead gorgeous woman who was seated right in front of us. Since we were in Section 105, she would have been on Row D on the aisle. She was maybe 30-ish with long highlighted blonde hair, an amzing tan and was clad in a short black dress. We first saw spotted this goddess on the concourse, then nearly fell out of our seats with excitement when a half hour later she appeared two rows in front of us. Then, just as fast, a guy and two kids joined her and we promptly laughed the night away. Perhaps coincidentally, the words "Shot through the heart" from You Give Love a Bad Name began to play at that moment. Some things just aren't meant to be. (For the record, she did not have on a wedding ring!)

Jon Bon Jovi did please every female in attendance with the ballad Bed of Roses and saved the best for last, when Livin' On a Prayer wrapped up the encore. As we headed backstage following the concert, we saw a large sign on one of their equipment boxes that read: "Bon Jovi: Viagra for Women." That basically sums up the sold-out crowd in a nutshell.
